South Asia Research Fellowship Programme

Between 2002 and 2005, Social Science Baha partnered with the Social Science Research Council, New York, to run the South Asia Research Fellowship Programme (SARFP). Annual fellowships were provided to university teachers whose proposals were accepted by the regional selection committee.

Year 1 (2002)
Theme: ‘Resources and Society’
Fellow from Nepal: Krishna Prasad Poudel, Tribhuvan University, Nepal
Research Title: ‘Resources and Society: A Study in the context of  Nepalese Mountains’

Year 2 (2003)
Theme: ‘Migration’
No one was selected from Nepal

Year 3 (2004)
Theme: ‘Boundaries of Bodies, States and Societies’
No one was selected from Nepal

Year 4 (2005)
Theme: ‘The Long 1950’s’
Fellows from Nepal:
a) Yogesh Ram Mishra, Centre for Research in Social Defense Technology, Nepal Engineering College, Bhaktapur, Research Title: ‘History as Mindscapes: Memory of the Peasants' Movement of Nepal during the Long 1950s’

b) Shiva Rijal, Department of English, Padmakanya Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University,  Research Title: ‘Modern Theatre in Nepal: A New Historical Reading’
