Invitation to submit proposals
the Annual Kathmandu Conference on Nepal and the Himalaya 21 July, 2012, Kathmandu
The Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies, Britain-Nepal Academic Council and Social Science Baha announce the Annual Kathmandu Conference on Nepal and the Himalaya.The inaugural edition of the conference will be held on 18 to 21 July, 2012, in Kathmandu. The first three days, 18-20 July, will be devoted to ‘Inequality and Affirmative Action: Situating Nepal in Global Debates’ being hosted by the Department of Sociology/Anthropology, Tribhuvan University, and Social Science Baha together with Goldsmiths, University of London, and Yale University, with support from the British Academy and other donors.
For the fourth day, 21 July, 2012, proposals are invited from those interested in presenting papers or in organising panels on any social science discipline and any topic .
A total of up to eight two-hour panels running in parallel can be accommodated, with each comprising a maximum of three presenters, one or more discussants, and a chair.
In the case of panels, if the proposal is accepted, full details, including names of chair, presenters and discussants (if any), and 300-word abstracts of the papers to be presented, will be required by Friday, 15 June, 2012.
The organisers will provide all the conference facilities free of cost to the panels but will charge a nominal participation fee to those attending the conference. The conference secretariat at Social Science Baha will also provide the required logistical assistance.
